I was recently asked for book ideas for a monster themed storytime and as I was compiling the list I realized there are actually quite a few fun picture books about monsters. Yesterday a new monster book released to join the ranks!
Smarter Than a Monster by Brandon Mull (of Fablehaven fame) helps ease fears of monsters under the bed and encourage good habits through his ‘survival guide.’ He explains that monsters prefer kids who don’t bathe and keep a messy room and gives kids all the ‘tools’ they need to keep the monsters away.

This book has a little nod to Halloween in it and October seems like the perfect time to share our monster book ideas! Below are the monster books we’ve most enjoyed:
–The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone
–Monsters Love Colors by Mike Austin
–Nibbles the Book Monster by Emma Yarlett
–Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberly
-Love Monster by Rachel Bright
–The Monster Who Lost His Mean by Tiffany Stelitz Haber
–There’s a Monster in Your Book by Tom Fletcher
Are there any other monster books you love?
