This lesson is part of a series of home preschool lessons I do for 2 and 3 year olds. Click to see How I Do Letter of the Week Lessons and the Preschool learning supplies I use.

At the beginning of the lessons I usually show the clip from the Leapfrog Letter Factory DVD for the featured letter and we practice singing the letter sound. Then I introduce the topic for the day and we do a letter craft based around it.

Books We Read:
- The Birthday Queen by Audrey and Don Wood: A sweet story about the birthday queen who makes sure everything goes right for your party. But at the end you realize she looks a lot like your mother.
- The Queen of Style by Carolyn Buehner: A bored queen starts attending beauty school and forces all her subjects to let her give them makeovers.
Activities We Did:

-Sang “If You’re a Queen and You Know It” while doing motions and wearing crowns:
(sung to If You’re Happy and You Know It)
If you’re a king or queen and know it
smile and wave
If you’re a king or queen and know it smile and wave
If you’re a king or queen and know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re a king or queen and know it smile and wave
If you’re a king or queen and know it
walk regally
If you’re a king or queen and know it walk regally
If you’re a king or queen and know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re a king or queen and know it walk regally
If you’re a king or queen and know it put on your crown
If you’re a king or queen and know it put on your crown
If you’re a king or queen and know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re a king or queen and know it put on your crown If you’re a king or queen and know it, do all three
If you’re a king or queen and know it, do all three
If you’re a king or queen and know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re a king or queen and know it, do all three
-Made crowns out of playdough
Snack We Ate:

At the end of each lesson
We always sing the alphabet song, read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and add the letter to our coconut tree.

I usually do two lessons for each letter, but only share one outline on here for the sake of time. The other lesson we did this week was Q is for Quilt. One of the highlights for the kids was making bears to tuck into bed with little paper quilts (inspired by the book Tuck Me In!).
